Head of Football: Dion Cataldo

Who Participates: Senior School and Sixth Form

Term(s) Offered: Spring Term

Football at Stamford School has seen rapid growth in recent years, evolving into a high-quality and competitive programme. With opportunities beginning in Year 10 and continuing through the Sixth Form, the football pathway supports both technical development and tactical awareness, aiming to build confident, well-rounded players who enjoy the game and continue playing beyond school.

Training is delivered across both school grounds and the facilities of our partner club, which includes a fully floodlit 3G surface. Pupils from Year 7 to Year 13 can access football through co-curricular activities, while students in Years 10–13 can opt for football as part of the Games curriculum in the Spring Term.

Recent highlights include:

  • 1st XI: Two-time champions of the Mercian League
  • Regular participation in ISFA competitions (U15, U18, Girls)
  • Annual overseas tours to major European football destinations
  • Strong links with a local semi-professional club for shared use of facilities
  • A growing number of students playing club football beyond school

Football at Stamford is a sport with ambition and momentum. As one of the most popular games worldwide, its appeal continues to grow across the school. The future is bright for Stamford football, with increased participation, competitive success, and exciting opportunities ahead.
