Our sporting ethos is, simply, 'turn up and join in'!

Sport is an integral aspect of life at Stamford. Through sport we aim to give your child a healthy attitude to physical activity throughout his or her school career and, more importantly, for life.

Your child's continued participation in sport will encourage social interaction, routine, discipline and behaviour as well as resilience and competition.

Games
Team sports are a big part of life at Stamford, with pupils playing rugby, hockey, netball and cricket across the school year. From Year 3, they take part in competitive fixtures against local schools and clubs.

We also compete in regional and national events through the Independent Association of Prep Schools (IAPS) and other sports bodies such as the RFU, ECB and England Netball. Each year, we host festivals in hockey, netball, rugby and cricket, welcoming over 2,500 pupils from more than 20 primary and prep schools.
P.E.

Our P.E. lessons focus on functional and fundamental movement, with fun at the heart of every activity. Pupils develop physical literacy through gymnastics, dance, balance and coordination, building skills that support fitness, flexibility, speed, agility and endurance.

This broad and engaging approach gives every pupil the chance to discover and enjoy different sports at all levels.

Be the best you can be
Performance plays an important role in developing a growth mindset, as pupils learn through experience, reflection and problem solving.

With a broad range of sporting activities on offer, there is something for everyone, whatever their interests, delivered through games lessons, P.E. and co-curricular clubs.
Co-Curricular

Pupils can add to their timetabled sports with a wide range of before and after school clubs, open to all, with mixed sex and ability groups.

There’s something for everyone, from basketball, fencing and swimming to tennis, badminton and all major sports. We also work with expert external coaches, including Peterborough United Football Club and R2R Tennis.

Enviable Sporting Facilities

The Junior School has 15 acres of sports space, with cricket squares, netball and tennis courts, a hockey Astroturf, athletics field, gym and swimming pool. Pupils also use Senior School facilities, including extra pitches and a 25-metre pool.

With great facilities and expert coaching, every child can take part, compete and enjoy a wide range of activities.
