Book for our Discovery Mornings

Discovery Mornings are a chance to explore the Schools on a normal working day.

You and your family will tour the School in the company of one of our pupils and will meet the Principal and senior team over tea and coffee.

Junior School (Reception – Year 6):
Wednesday 15 May 8.45am – 10am

Senior School (Year 7 – Year 11):
Wednesday 15 May 10am – 11.30am

Spaces at a Discovery Morning are limited so that you can have as much time as you need to see the School at your own pace and discuss your child as an individual.

Our aim is to offer a nurturing, home from home environment for your child to learn and grow.

Stamford Junior School Ethos

Our main objective at Stamford is to work in partnership with parents to raise confident and down to earth children, who are curious and engaged in the world around them.

We are future focused, down to earth and want to give your child an education in a family environment, to give them the opportunity to become the very best version of themselves. Our belief is that school should be an extension of home; your child’s school experience should be nurturing, fulfilling and fun!

"My child has flourished under the guidance and opportunities that are provided at Stamford Junior School. The attention and detail to which the staff and the setting go to, to ensure both my children's personalities are nurtured is wonderful."

Our purpose is to ensure fulfilment of each child's potential.
Our Objective
"Every teacher at Stamford knows the name of every child in the school, what they like and what their interests are; that is something we are very proud of."

Matthew O'Reilly
Head of Stamford Junior School

  • Offer a nurturing environment for your child to learn and grow.
  • Work in partnership with parents to raise confident and down to earth children.
  • Encourage curiosity and engagement in the world around us.
  • Offer a warm and friendly community which is relaxed yet purposeful.

We are future focused, yet down to earth, and strive to give your child an education in a family environment. Our aim is to give each child the opportunity to become the very best version of themselves. We hope your child’s academic journey starts with the Junior School and that they will continue into our Senior School and beyond.

Academic Learning

Our academic approach is to understand in your child their learning characteristics

Our teachers and learning support team share an understanding of what makes a good learner and together we build a framework around each child to truly help them reach their full potential.

We aim to offer your child as much exposure as possible to different opportunities, experiences and breadth of subjects to ensure their learning journey is personal but robust.

Our smaller class sizes offer your child an accelerated and personal learning experience.

Art, Drama and Music

Our aim for your child is to foster a life-long interest in the arts whilst striving for professional standards in all areas

We have an enviable reputation for excellence with productions being much more than your average “school play”.

At the Junior School in particular, the Drama and Music departments work collaboratively to stage the spectacular end of Year 6 Spotlight musical production.

Recent shows include The Wizard of Oz, Bugsy Malone and Pantastic!

Art

The main purpose of Art and Design is to develop your child’s ability to appreciate the visual world and to enable them to respond in a personal and creative way.

Within our art department your child will find the opportunity to explore all aspects of Art and Design.

Stamford students gain experience in all media. We don’t have a 'house style' and we cater for all approaches from figurative to abstract to conceptual – your child could even invent a whole new art form!

Music

At Stamford, we believe that 'Music is for all', offering help and support at all levels of music-making, as we believe that music is an essential part of everyone’s life. The Music Department works hard to give every child access to music through a varied curriculum, regular singing in assembly, chapel and house competitions and the huge co-curricular programme.

As well as the value of music for its own sake we know that it has huge benefits socially, cognitively, and for wellbeing.

Drama

Drama is a central part of our co-curricular provision, with our school productions being a jewel in the Stamford calendar.

The Stamford Drama department is a vibrant and inclusive place for your child, whether they are a performer, director, choreographer, designer or technician, we encourage creativity and collaboration and encourage our students to strive for professional standards in all areas.

Our Senior and Sixth Form Students are seen as aspirational figures and give your child a focus for ambitious achievement. Together our schools offer shared teaching, better facilities and strong academic motivation.
