Welland House welcomes students from Year 5 to Year 8, offering a supportive and structured environment where they can grow academically, socially, and personally. With single-sex sleeping areas and shared co-educational living spaces, Welland House fosters confidence, independence, and strong character during these crucial formative years. By living and learning together, boys and girls benefit from diverse perspectives that enrich their social and emotional growth. This boarding structure provides younger students with a nurturing setting that emphasises family values, encouraging independence whilst maintaining a sense of community.
Welland House is in the heart of Stamford, opposite the River Welland, which runs through the town. The large, Grade II* listed building is a traditional Georgian property with large bedrooms, open communal family spaces and a wonderfully spacious garden for its boarders to enjoy. Welland House offers a calm and balanced environment where students can thrive academically while developing essential life skills, all within a supportive and nurturing community. The house truly feels like a home-from-home.
Shared activities, routines, and collaborative learning opportunities help students develop strong communication skills and empathy, essential for thriving in modern, diverse societies. A structured yet nurturing routine ensures that students thrive academically and personally. With access to dedicated study spaces and academic support from experienced staff, boarders benefit from a focused learning atmosphere free from daily travel distractions. This experience allows them to cultivate independence, self-discipline, and a strong work ethic, all within a safe and encouraging setting.
Browne House is in the centre of the St. Paul’s site at Stamford School and is home to our male boarders in Year 9 to Year 13. This buzzing and lively house benefits from direct access to our Mainfield’s sports field, the sports centre, gym and swimming pool.
This spacious house benefits from comfortable, communal spaces for boarders to relax and unwind. A haven for entertainment, Browne House has numerous sitting rooms, a snooker table, a large games room with a pool table, a large TV screen, and table tennis. Dormitories comprise beds with ample under-bed storage and wardrobe space, along with individual desks to allow in-house study. We have an array of dormitories throughout the house that allows for a natural transition from communal dorms to single rooms in the Sixth Form. Boarders also have access to a fully equipped and spacious kitchen, a hive for social cooking and communal meals.
For our female students, boarding is arranged over two houses opposite each other within the St Paul’s school site. Byard House is the hub of the girls’ boarding houses, with a comfortable lounge area, kitchen and plenty of space to relax and socialise together. Boarding is arranged over two houses opposite each other, creating one large home within the St Paul’s school site.
The houses have a modern interior, with multiple relaxation and communal spaces to allow separation and integration of cohorts as appropriate. There is a cosy snug to watch films, a hot drinks bar, and a games room with table tennis and pool tables. There is an array of dormitory sizes and capacities to cater for differing age groups, all conveniently located close to the town and sports centre, gym and pool.
Park House is on the St Martin’s site, home to Stamford School’s Sixth Form. With views across the picturesque Burghley Park, Park is a delightful home for our International Study Centre students. The house has a welcoming lounge for board games and TV, a conservatory opening to a courtyard garden and easy access to the town. Students have access to a fully functional kitchen and laundry room to develop domestic independence.
The accommodation is arranged with boys’ and girls’ dormitories on separate floors. Park students can enjoy meals at the St Martin’s site along with direct access to Burghley Park for outside activities.
