Year 7

Successful candidates should demonstrate:

Strong academic achievement and potential.

Curiosity and enthusiasm for learning with thoughtful ideas and clear personal ambitions.

Academic interests beyond the classroom.

Assessment will include:

Monitoring academic progress throughout the Autumn Term.

A letter outlining the student’s interests and ambitions.

An interview based largely on their application letter..

Applications open at the beginning of Spring Term, with scholarships awarded before February half-term.

Year 8
to 11

Successful candidates should demonstrate:

Exceptional achievement in end-of-year assessments.

Consistent academic ambition and engagement.

Independent learning and intellectual curiosity.

The potential to contribute to the Scholars’ community.

Assessment will include:

A review of end-of-year examination results.

Consideration by the Academic Scholars’ Team.

An interview for students who have not previously applied.

Additional students may be invited to join the programme following the annual academic review or when the students join mid-year. The Year 7–11 Academic Scholarship Programme concludes at the end of Year 11.

Year 12

Successful candidates should demonstrate:

Excellent GCSE performance, normally averaging approximately Grade 8.

Strong academic interests and clear ambitions.

Independent thinking and readiness for advanced study.

The potential to thrive within the Sixth Form Scholars’ community..

Assessment will include:

A review of GCSE results.

A letter outlining the student’s academic interests and ambitions, submitted in week one.

Consideration of both attainment and the quality of the application.

Sixth Form Academic Scholars are selected during the first few weeks of Year 12 and if eligible will
be contacted after results day. Current Stamford students and external applicants are considered equally.
