Drama Scholars can contribute to major productions as performers, designers, technicians, production team members or front-of-house volunteers. They also take part in the Scholars’ Showcase, created specifically for students within the programme.
Performing a two-minute monologue from a published play, learnt by heart.
The piece should demonstrate the student’s ability to create a convincing character.
A short interview with the Director of Drama to discuss their experience, interests and ambitions.
Applicants may also bring supporting material, such as examination certificates, production photographs or programmes.
Presenting a stage or costume design and explaining the ideas behind it.

Applicants are encouraged to bring photographs, artefacts or a portfolio of design work to support their presentation.
Access to workshops, theatre trips, live performances and termly challenges to broaden their experience and encourage them to explore drama beyond the curriculum.
Scholars have access to specialist teaching, technical instruction and a range of rehearsal and performance spaces, including two black box studios and two fully equipped halls with raked seating, sound and lighting facilities.
Drama Scholars also have access to several rehearsal spaces across the schools. There are five performance venues, two of which are fully equipped black box drama studios, along with two halls, both with raked seating and sound and lighting systems. Each year we stage multiple productions, in January, March, May and June, offering opportunities for students across the age range.
Our Sixth Form Drama Scholars receive specialist guidance and/or technical instruction from the Drama Department, with opportunities to gain further experience in areas which support entry into Higher Education courses. 1-2-1 support will be offered to those applying to further their performance or production education at drama school or university.
