Top GCSE Grades Continue to Increase at Stamford

Students at Stamford School are celebrating their GCSE results today, Thursday 20 August 2026, as top grades continue to increase and students achieve exceptional added value across a range of subjects.

This year, 13% of all grades achieved were Grade 9, the highest in Stamford’s history outside the pandemic and a testament to academic excellence and research-informed teaching in action across the School. A

further 30% of grades were awarded at Grades 9–8.Strong added value was also recorded across many areas of the curriculum, with English Language, Drama and Music among the subjects demonstrating the highest added value.

Following the excellent Sixth Form results received last week, the latest GCSE results continue a positive period for Stamford and reflect the confidence and momentum across the School.

“Congratulations to our talented and determined Year 11s on their exceptional GCSE achievements today. They are testament to their months of effort and commitment alongside stalwart support from parents and teachers.“GCSEs are an essential milestone in the academic journeys for our young people, and we have shown that through passionate and caring teaching, alongside sector-leading options, pathways and futures advice, we can enable students to achieve at the very highest level, demonstrated by the best ever set of Grade 9s achieved by our students.”

Today marks an important moment for Stamford’s Year 11 students as they celebrate the culmination of months of hard work and commitment and look ahead to the next stage of their education.Students can now begin to specialise and follow their passions as they take their next steps. Stamford is looking forward to welcoming students back in just under two weeks to its St Martin’s campus, where they will make the transition from GCSEs towards their post-18 opportunities.

Stamford Sixth Form is designed to support students’ academic ambitions and pastoral needs, while providing opportunities to learn together and develop skills highly prized by universities and employers. 

Students are known and valued as part of Stamford’s thriving community, developing a sense of belonging and ownership as they prepare for their futures.F

or those considering Stamford Sixth Form, students can choose from 27 A Level courses, alongside three specialist BTEC courses, one Cambridge Technical course and an expanding range of vocational opportunities, providing breadth and flexibility to choose the pathway that is right for them.
