Students make regional final of ESU Public Speaking Competition
Three students from Stamford School have reached the regional final of the ESU Churchill Public Speaking Competition, following success at the East Midlands second round.The team, formed of Henry M (Y11), Milo H (Y11) and Otis H (Y9), won several awards between them at the competition; Henry was judged 'Best Speaker', Milo was awarded 'Best Questioner' and Otis won 'Runner Up Best Chairperson'.The students worked very hard to prepare beforehand, with support in the first round by Seterah R (Year 10) as their reseacher.The competiton was open to students from Years 9 to 11, who were able to enter in teams of four to present from a choice of topics. The first two rounds were held on Zoom, with Stamford choosing the topic of school exchange programmes, resulting in their place in the final.The Regional Final will be held at the University of Lincoln on Sat 12 March.
