Stamford School’s U15 boys’ football team delivered a superbly disciplined and determined performance to defeat Woodhouse Grove 2–1 in the semi-final of the ISFA Bowl, booking their place in the national final.
In a tightly contested encounter, Stamford demonstrated both character and composure. The match was played at intensity, with Woodhouse Grove applying sustained pressure and forcing Stamford to remain alert defensively. The boys responded with organisation, work rate and maturity beyond their years.
After taking the lead, Stamford were tested but showed resilience to withstand periods of pressure. When the game demanded courage and concentration, the squad remained united, defending collectively and managing the key moments with intelligence.
The winning margin reflected the balance of the contest, but Stamford’s belief and willingness to work relentlessly for one another ultimately proved decisive. Their discipline and tactical awareness in the latter stages ensured they saw out the result with authority.
Reaching a national final is a significant accomplishment and a testament to the team’s development, commitment and collective strength throughout the season.
The squad now looks ahead to the final with confidence and well-earned momentum.
Congratulations to the players and coaching staff on an outstanding achievement.
