Stamford School’s Boys’ First XI Football Team Reach National Semi-Final

Stamford School’s Boys’ First XI football team produced a composed and resilient performance in the national quarter-final, travelling up to Blackpool and overcoming AKS Lytham to secure a place in the National Semi-Final.

In a tightly contested fixture that finished 2–2 after extra time, Stamford held their nerve in the decisive moments, winning the penalty shootout 3–0 to progress. It marked another hard-fought victory and underlined the squad’s growing confidence.

The match was evenly balanced throughout, with Stamford showing discipline and organisation against a well-drilled AKS Lytham side. As the game wore on, Stamford’s composure and tactical clarity became increasingly evident, particularly in the closing stages and extra time, where concentration and energy levels were tested.

The penalty shootout was exemplary. Stamford’s players demonstrated real calm under pressure, converting their spot-kicks with authority, while the goalkeeper delivered a commanding performance to secure a clean sweep.

This was a collective achievement built on resilience, focus and belief, reflecting the strength of the squad and the clarity of the coaching programme. Reaching the National Semi-Final is a significant milestone and thoroughly deserved.

Congratulations to the players and coaching staff as the side now prepares for their next stage of the national competition with momentum and confidence.
