Stamford School’s U16 hockey team continued their impressive cup run on Wednesday afternoon, securing a composed 2–0 victory over Uppingham to progress into round three of the competition.
The match was competitive throughout, with both sides creating opportunities, but Stamford’s organisation and collective work rate proved decisive. Strong decision-making in key moments allowed them to capitalise on chances while limiting Uppingham’s attacking threat.
As the game developed, Stamford grew in authority, controlling the midfield and showing composure in the final third. Their ability to stay focused and execute the game plan under pressure ensured the clean sheet and a deserved progression in the cup.
This result reflects the squad’s continued development this season, with performances marked by tactical understanding, resilience, and a clear sense of belief.
Congratulations to the players and coaching staff on an excellent away performance. The team now looks ahead to round three with confidence and momentum firmly on their side.
