On Friday 30 May, Stamford School’s talented public speaking team competed in the prestigious ESU Public Speaking Final at Dartmouth House, located in the heart of London's Mayfair.
This year, the national competition drew entries from over 150 schools, with just 12 teams selected to compete in the Final. Representing Stamford were Year 11 students Saanvi, Rory and Bear, who impressed the judges with their poise, clarity and powerful communication throughout the event. The morning saw two highly competitive semi-final rounds, with the top six teams progressing to the Grand Final held later that afternoon.
We were thrilled to be among those six teams, a remarkable achievement for our students who are currently in the midst of their GCSEs. Balancing revision, exams and preparation for a national final is no small feat, and Saanvi, Rory and Bear rose to the challenge with energy, commitment and resilience.
While the coveted first prize narrowly eluded us, our students’ performance placed them in the top 18 out of the 1,400 pupils who participated across the 2024–25 academic year. We are incredibly proud of their success and the way they represented Stamford School on a national stage.
