Stamford School is delighted to be recognised once again in The Cricketer’s 2026 Schools Guide, placing us among the UK’s Top 100 Senior Schools for cricket and highlighting the strength and depth of our programme.
Under the leadership of Head of Cricket Josh Weller, supported by guest coach Matthew Hoggard, cricket at Stamford continues to develop with purpose. The coaching structure, facilities, and competitive opportunities provide a clear pathway from junior involvement through to high-performance environments, and this has translated into consistent success for our players.
Several former Stamford students are now progressing in the professional game: Shan Masood (OS 06), Josh Hull (OS 22), Jake Tarling (OS 23), Joey Evison (OS 20), Zak Chappell (OS 14) and the most recent addition, Alex Green (OS 25). Their achievements reflect both their talent and the level of preparation that starts here.
Our girls’ cricket provision has grown rapidly too, with players moving into Leicestershire and The Blaze Academy as the pathway expands. That progress was reflected this season when 13 Stamford girls finished as National Runners-Up, a result built on sustained hard work, technical improvement, and an impressive sense of shared purpose within the squad.
Cricket at Stamford continues to thrive, shaped by experienced coaching, ambitious young players, and a culture that values both performance and enjoyment of the game.
