Stamford School students delivered an impressive team performance in Leicester yesterday, securing progression to the third round of the competition, the regional final, which will take place in March.
The Stamford team, Tess, Noah, Rebecca, Saanvi and Bear, approached the round with clarity, discipline and collective purpose. Tess, Saanvi and Noah spoke during the debate itself, but the result reflected a genuinely shared effort. All five students were closely involved in researching the motion, testing arguments and refining strategy throughout the preparation sessions.
What stood out was the depth of collaboration. Each team member contributed substantively to the analysis and case construction, ensuring that the speakers entered the round with a well-evidenced, coherent and flexible position. The outcome was not the product of individual performance alone, but of sustained teamwork and intellectual commitment.
Progression to the regional final recognises both the students’ debating ability and the seriousness with which they approached preparation. It also reflects the wider culture of academic rigour and collaboration at Stamford, where success is built through shared responsibility and disciplined thinking.
The team now turns its attention to March, carrying forward the same collective approach that has underpinned their success so far.
