The Stamford School Chapel Choir gave an outstanding performance of Choral Evensong at Peterborough Cathedralon Saturday afternoon, representing the School’s proud musical tradition at one of the region’s most historic venues.
The service, sung according to the 1662 Book of Common Prayer, required careful attention to the intricate structure and musical detail of Anglican liturgy. The choir’s delivery was described by the cathedral clergy as “highly proficient”, with particular praise for their confident navigation of the complex order of service and the depth of musical understanding shown throughout.
Under the direction of Stamford’s music staff, the Chapel Choir showcased the high standard of music at Stamford School, blending technical precision with expressive choral tone. Their performance reflected the dedication of both students and staff in nurturing musical excellence and spiritual engagement through performance.
Participation in services such as Choral Evensong offers Stamford’s young musicians a valuable opportunity to perform in sacred and professional settings, developing ensemble skills, musical discipline, and a sense of heritage within the Anglican choral tradition.
The occasion was a memorable experience for all involved and a testament to the strength and vibrancy of music at Stamford School.
