Stamford raises money for the RAF Benevolent Fund

Stamford School Students Perform with Royal Air Force College Band in Charity Concert.

Stamford School students performed alongside the prestigious Royal Air Force College Band in a special charity concert on Thursday 23 April 2026, raising funds for the RAF Benevolent Fund.

The concert saw young musicians from Stamford School performing alongside the military college band based at Royal Air Force College Cranwell. The Band represents the Royal Air Force at ceremonial events, state occasions and major concerts across the UK and internationally.

The collaboration offered students a rare opportunity to take part in an afternoon workshop led by the College Band and perform within a professional military music setting, working to the highest standards of precision, discipline and musicality.

The evening concert included a varied repertoire of military band favourites, orchestral works as well as contemporary arrangements, including a Glenn Miller tribute and music from John Williams, Star Wars.

The evening raised over £1,160 for the RAF Benevolent Fund. For more than 100 years, the Fund has provided practical, emotional and financial support to serving personnel, veterans and their families.

“This evening's concert will have been a memorable and pleasurable experience for the audience. But for the pupils taking part, who have risen to the occasion of playing side by side with consummate professionals both over the course of the day and during tonight's concert, this will have been a transformative experience which will stay with them their whole lives long. We are very grateful to The College Band of the Royal Air Force for this incredible opportunity and to all those who showed their support attending and donating towards the RAF Benevolent Fund.” Mr Alex Osiatynski, Director of Music at Stamford School.
