Stamford Nursery and Preschool is proud to be a Reggio Emilia-inspired childcare setting, embracing an educational philosophy that places children’s curiosity, creativity and collaboration at the heart of learning.
Originating in northern Italy, the Reggio Emilia approach encourages children to value the world around them, themselves and each other, while developing the confidence to work collaboratively and think independently. Learning is shaped around children’s natural fascinations and interests, allowing them to explore through an open-ended journey of encounter, enquiry and expression.
At Stamford Nursery and Preschool, children are encouraged to take ownership of their learning. Rather than simply providing answers, practitioners work alongside children to investigate questions together, nurturing a culture where every thought, idea and perspective is valued equally. These investigations often evolve into meaningful projects, enabling practitioners to observe what children already know, what excites their curiosity and where they may benefit from further challenge and support.
