Stamford High School Become Worldwise Quiz Winners

The Stamford Schools have won the local round of the Worldwise Geography Quiz, with Stamford High School becoming the champions of 2021.The Worldwise Quiz involved schools from across South Lincolnshire competing against each other in a range of geographical rounds.Six schools competed in total, including, Stamford High School, Stamford School, Uppingham, Jack Hunt School, Priory Ruskin Academy and Leicester Grammar.Both Stamford School and Stamford High School competed in the quiz with two teams each, SS A and B and SHS A and B, involving Year 10 and 11 students. Other schools competed with a mixture of one or two teams.This year the quiz took place virtually again, hosted by Mr B Morris, Geography teacher at Stamford School.The quiz consisted of eight rounds, some including quick fire questions, and others with picture reveals, multiple choice or map based questions.A huge well done to all students involved.Mr Smith, Head of Geography at Stamford High School, said: "I'm very proud of our GCSE SHS Geographers who took part in the annual Geographical Association Worldwise Quiz this year.Particular congratulations must go to our 'A Team' who came top of the leader board - something that has never happened for an SHS team before! The students worked so incredibly hard and really committed to additional study and practice in preparation - which clearly paid off! I was especially impressed with their performance in Round 6 where they has to answer a series of questions relating to the impact that air travel has on our changing climate.
