Staff from Stamford School took on the Year 13 leavers in a closely contested charity football match on Wednesday, held at the Zeeco Stadium, home of Stamford AFC.
Played in front of a strong crowd, the fixture provided a lively and competitive occasion, with both sides approaching the match with energy and intent. The game was evenly balanced throughout, with limited chances as each team remained organised and disciplined out of possession.
The decisive moment came through a standout individual effort, as Mr McLeod produced a brilliant solo goal to give the staff a narrow advantage. The leavers responded positively, continuing to press forward and search for an equaliser, but were unable to find a breakthrough against a resilient staff side.
Off the pitch, the event created a vibrant atmosphere, with a raffle, music and strong support from across the school community contributing to the occasion. The match brought together staff, students, parents and Old Stamfordians in a shared effort that extended beyond the result itself.
Importantly, the event raised valuable funds for Hospice of the Good Shepherd, supporting the charity’s ongoing work. The success of the evening reflects the collective effort of all those involved, both on and off the pitch.
Congratulations to everyone who took part and contributed to a well-supported and meaningful event.
