We were thrilled to welcome Old Stamfordian Ollie Kew (OS 09), Deputy Editor of BBC Top Gear magazine, back to Stamford School over the last week. Ollie arrived in style, driving a McLaren Artura, much to the delight of staff and students alike.
On Friday, Ollie visited our Junior School, where pupils had the exciting opportunity to explore the stunning McLaren and attend a special assembly. A standout moment of the day was for Arthur, a Junior School pupil and passionate Top Gear fan, who has raised nearly £23,000 for The Brain Tumour Charity by climbing the equivalent height of Everest, received a private tour of the McLaren and even had the chance to interview Ollie. Arthur’s journey is particularly inspiring, as he has lived with low-grade brain tumours since the age of three.
Ollie returned yesterday to speak at a Sixth Form assembly for Year 12 and 13 students, followed by an engaging Q&A session with students interested in media, marketing, and journalism. He also took the opportunity to catch up with his former teacher, Mr. Brown.
It was a pleasure to have Ollie back at Stamford, and we extend our thanks to him for his time and inspiration!
