Joey to bat for England Young Lions

Stamford School student, Joey Evison, has been called up to the 16-man England Young Lions Squad in a tri series tournament against India & Bangladesh U19s. The series of one-day matches begins in July against India and continues until mid-August.

Joey was selected after showing fantastic form at both county and international level, having scored a hundred at age-group level against Gloucestershire, and a half-century against Scotland A.

Joey, who has been playing for Nottinghamshire Academy and the England development squad said, “I’m delighted to be called up – it’s really exciting to be able to represent my county at under-19s level. This season so far has gone really well for me, and I just want to keep on contributing to any side that I play for with both bat and ball.”

Dean Headley, Director of SES Cricket commended “Joey has been a fantastic sportsman since joining Stamford Junior School in Year 5. With his cricket, he has just kept on getting better with the bat, and more recently his bowling has made great strides too. His dedication and work ethic to his cricket deserves all the credit he is being given. This selection for me is brilliant but by no means surprising.”
