Two teams of gymnasts from the Stamford Endowed Schools have reached the national finals of the Schools Floor and Vault Championships after sweeping the medals at the recent East Midlands Floor and Vault competition, hosted by Stamford Junior School. This competition acts as a qualifying event for the national finals in May where the winning teams from each category go on to represent the East Midlands regions. Medals were in hot contention!Six teams from the Stamford Endowed Schools were entered; U11 Girls B team, U11 Girls A team, U14 Girls B team, U14 Girls A team, U14 Mixed team and U19 Mixed team and all competed with determination and poise to produce some remarkable results.
U11 Girls - The B team finished in a good third place, while the A team dominated the event to win this section seven marks clear of their nearest rivals and going through to the finals in May.
U14 Girls - This category had the largest number of teams competing. The B team finished in a wonderful fifth place and the A team worked very hard to take the bronze medals.
U14 Mixed - Our team used their experience to win this section, picking up the gold medal and also qualifying for the finals in May.
U19 Mixed – The competition was very fierce in this category with two teams vying for the gold medal! Our team finished in a very respectable second place, close behind the eventual winners.
