Grandparents’ Afternoon Teas at Stamford Junior School Celebrate Learning, Family and Togetherness

Over the past three Fridays, Stamford Junior School has been delighted to welcome grandparents into school for our Grandparents’ Afternoon Teas, a much-loved series of events celebrating family, learning and connection across the whole school.

For many of our visiting grandparents, this marked their first visit to SJS, making the occasion particularly meaningful. Across the three afternoons, the school was filled with warmth and conversation as generations came together to spend time in classrooms and shared spaces, experiencing school life side by side.

Pupils from every year group took great pride in sharing their learning, confidently talking through their work and showing grandparents what they have been working on in class. From early years activities to more developed written and creative work, the children were enthusiastic guides, clearly enjoying the opportunity to showcase their progress and achievements.

The afternoons concluded with a traditional afternoon tea, providing a relaxed and welcoming setting for families to talk, reflect and enjoy time together. These moments of calm connection are an important part of school life, strengthening the partnership between home and school and allowing learning to be celebrated beyond the classroom.

Our Grandparents’ Afternoon Teas are a valued part of the Stamford Junior School calendar. They create space for meaningful shared experiences, reinforce a sense of belonging within our community, and remind us of the powerful role that family plays in supporting children’s confidence, wellbeing and love of learning.
