Geoff Parling inspires Stamford pupils with lecture in teamwork and resilience

This afternoon, Stamford School was delighted to welcome Geoff Parling, former England and British & Irish Lion and now Head Coach of Leicester Tigers, for a special Stamford Little Lecture with pupils in Years 3–5.

Geoff, who is a Stamford Junior School parent, shared insights from an exceptional playing and coaching career that has taken him across the world. During his 15-year professional career, he made more than 300 senior appearances, won three Premiership titles, including two with Leicester Tigers, and represented both England and the British & Irish Lions at Test level.

Since retiring, Geoff has coached in Super Rugby with the Melbourne Rebels and internationally with the Wallabies, before returning to Leicester in 2025 as Head Coach.

During his visit, he spoke to pupils about leadership, resilience and teamwork, before joining them for a series of fun rugby challenges and handing out Leicester Tigers merchandise. He ended the afternoon by setting pupils a special challenge, with a reward in store for those who complete it.

Geoff’s visit was an inspiring reminder of the values shared by Stamford School and Leicester Tigers: teamwork, determination and pride in everything you do.
