Stamford School is delighted to share the exciting news that Year 8 student Evie has won the People’s Choice Award for Best Female Musical Solo Performance (Age 11–16) at the prestigious National School Theatre Awards.
Evie captivated audiences with her heartfelt rendition of “Where is Love?” from Oliver!, a role she played with great emotion and maturity in our recent school production. Her performance earned a landslide of public votes, securing her place as a national winner.
On Monday 23 June, Evie was invited to perform live at the Gillian Lynne Theatre in London’s West End, reprising her solo in front of an audience of 1,200 students, teachers, and theatre professionals. It was an unforgettable evening, placing her in the spotlight on a stage previously graced by stars such as Carrie Hope Fletcher and Stamford alumnus Charlie Stemp.
We are incredibly proud of Evie for embracing this phenomenal opportunity with such grace and talent. Her success is a testament to her hard work and passion for musical theatre.
This year’s production of Oliver! also received nominations across multiple categories, including Best Musical, Best Lead Actor, Best Lead Actress, and Best Supporting Actor. Although the team narrowly missed out on these awards, the glowing review from the NSTAs speaks volumes:
"Thank you to everyone at Stamford School, for a night that gave us joyful showtunes, rollickingly rambunctious dance numbers, glimpses of true terror, and time to reflect. You all came together as a community to show us the very best of what we can all achieve together when we are ‘part of the family’. I very much hope to ‘be back soon’ for another stupendous show at Stamford School."
Congratulations to Evie and the entire Oliver! cast and crew on this outstanding achievement.
