It was an unforgettable weekend for Year 11 student George, who delivered an outstanding performance playing for the Lincolnshire hockey team in the men's county Division B tournament. George's contribution was instrumental in the team securing promotion to Division A for the upcoming season.
George, back row left in the picture above, played alongside the Old Stamfordians Thomas Mayhew, Joe Rogers (both OS 18)and James Mayhew (OS 21). The Mayhew brothers and Rogers brought their own experience and talent to the field, forming a formidable unit with George that was difficult for opponents to break down.
This promotion is not just a triumph for the Lincolnshire team but also a personal milestone for George. As a Year 11 student, balancing academics and sports is no small feat, and his achievement in the tournament is a testament to his hard work, dedication, and passion for the game.
Looking ahead, the Lincolnshire team will now prepare for the challenges of Division A, where they will face tougher competition. However, with players like George and the experienced Old Stamfordians, the team will hope to make a significant impact and continue their upward trajectory.
