Achievement at National School Girls Fives Tournament

The Year 9 girls’ team enjoyed a successful day competing in the National School Girls Fives Tournament held at Marlborough College in Wiltshire last weekend.Zara Pollock, Maddie Pike, Amy Rule, Jolie Mitchell-Clark, Leonie Hart, Theodora Sogunro, Neve Murison and Evie Joyce played very well all day against girls from schools across the UK such as Marlborough, Malvern, Eastbourne, Christ’s Hospital, Bedford Modern School, Alleyns and Blundell’s, many of whom have more experience playing generally and on fives courts regularly.Zara did very well in her group and reached the quarter-finals of the singles where she was beaten in a close game by the eventual winner. In the doubles, Zara and Maddie, our Stamford 1st pair, also reached the doubles semi-final where they were also beaten by a very strong Marlborough pair who went on to win. Meanwhile, in the plate the other Stamford pairs (2nds and 3rds) battled it out with other pairs before meeting each other in the plate final.  After a hard-fought game, Leonie Hart and Theodora Sogunro brought home the U14 Doubles Plate and two medals. Congratulations on a fantastic achievement at National School level.
