Yesterday some of our bravest Year 12 academic scholars took to our Ted Lecture Theatre stage at our St Martin’s site to present our Academic Scholars’ Society’s inaugural PechaKucha talks. PechaKucha is a storytelling format in which a presenter shows 20 slides for 20 seconds per slide. The slides do not have any words, only images or diagrams. The total time for each presentation is around 7 minutes and requires precision timing and plenty of charisma! The topics were:
Tess: | The Kowloon Walled City |
Lily: | Genetic engineering and its ethical issues |
Tobias: | Man City and their legal woes |
Rufus: | Worm holes and time travel |
Oliver: | Bernie Madoff |
Rory: | The Battle of Towton and why it was so significant in English history |
Charlie: | Three mathematicians who changed the world |
The students now have the opportunity to turn these talks into submissions for the Massolit video essay competition, in partnership with Brasenose College, Oxford, we wish them the best of luck and hope to be sharing news of their further successes soon!
