Whether your child is a performer, director, choreographer, designer or technician, we encourage creativity and collaboration in all areas. We offer a range of performance opportunities for all levels of ability, with informal and formal shows along with house drama and dance competitions.
We believe that all performance is valuable, whether it be in the large-scale senior musical or a one-off presentation of curriculum work.
Students from Years 3-13 are taught by specialist teachers and take graded examinations in Drama and Communication, many achieving distinctions for their work.
There is a weekly Production Crew Club for Years 10-13, run by our two professional Drama Technicians, exploring technical and design areas of the theatre.
We also offer a triennial trip to New York for students in Years 11-13, where we engage in workshops, tours and visit Broadway, alongside a number of exciting cultural sights.
Students have the opportunity to participate as a performer, or working behind the scenes, on events for audiences ranging from 30 to 400 in size.

Each year we stage a Dance Showcase, based around traditional fairy tales and stories, giving students the opportunity to dance and choreograph in a range of styles.
Recent showcases include The Little Mermaid, Snow White and Peter Pan.
Recent shows include The Wizard of Oz, Bugsy Malone and Pantastic!
Biennially we stage a submission showcase, where students are able to develop work with their peers around a given theme or style and then have the opportunity to present these performances to a public audience.
Most recent showcases have been focused on Shakespeare and the works of Frantic Assembly.
We work closely with a number of external agencies and links to help strengthen our offering to your child. Our long-established relationships with the wider Stamford amateur dramatics community is also vital for the confidence and support of our students.
Drama Scholars are the stars of the dramatic, cultural life of our Schools.
We also host talks and Q&As with Stamford alumni who have gone onto careers in the arts. Recent Scholars’ trips have included seeing productions in London’s West End, a backstage tour of the National Theatre and workshops with industry professionals in Acting for Camera and Stage Combat.
Scholars who pursue the arts when leaving us will be supported in 1-to-1 sessions through their application and audition process.
