Stamford Sixth Form, in collaboration with Bourne Grammar School, recently hosted a pioneering academic event designed to support and enhance the learning of its Year 13 Psychology students. The day, led by Dr Guy Sutton of Medical Biology Interactive, was a dynamic showcase of cutting-edge neuroscience education, aiming to deepen understanding of the complex Year 2 Biopsychology topic.
The event featured a compelling blend of lectures and interactive, hands-on workshops, offering students more than a standard classroom experience. Dr Sutton’s expert delivery was praised for its clear navigation of complex neurological concepts and the depth of scientific understanding made accessible to the students.
The highlight of the day was an unforgettable sheep brain dissection , offering students a unique opportunity to explore neuroanatomy in a tangible way. This immersive practical experience not only reinforced theoretical knowledge taught in the classroom but also vividly illustrated the intricate structure of the central nervous system.
Under the guidance of both school staff and Dr Sutton, the students demonstrated a high level of engagement and focus, blending careful technical precision with a genuine enthusiasm for the subject matter. Their participation reflected the dedication of both students and staff in nurturing scientific excellence and practical learning.
This type of collaborative, specialist event offers Stamford's young scientists a valuable opportunity to engage with challenging material in a professional and immersive setting, developing advanced practical skills, scientific discipline, and a deeper appreciation for the fascinating world of neuroscience.
