Stamford School students enjoyed an exciting and enriching series of school trips over the October half term, travelling across the UK and beyond to broaden their learning, develop new skills and create lasting memories.
From New York City and Washington DC, to Sicily, Scotland and Croatia, each trip reflected the School’s commitment to providing outstanding educational experiences both inside and outside the classroom.
The History and Politics trip to the USA took students to some of the nation’s most significant sites, including the White House, US Capitol, Statue of Liberty, and the 9/11 Memorial and Museum. A highlight of the visit was a Q&A session at The Pentagon with General Dan Caine, offering a rare insight into American defence and international relations.
In Sicily, Geography students explored the island’s dramatic volcanic landscapes, studied the impact of Mount Etna, and gained first-hand understanding of tectonic processes. The trip also offered a taste of Italian culture, including a traditional pizza-making workshop and visits to historical landmarks.
Meanwhile, the Scotland Rugby and Hockey Tour combined competition and cultural discovery. Students visited Edinburgh Castle, the Wallace Monument, and the Glasgow Science Centre, while competing in fixtures against Glasgow Academy and Dundee High School. The tour encouraged teamwork, resilience and sportsmanship, as well as a deep appreciation for Scotland’s rich sporting traditions.
The Croatia Football Camp offered another outstanding opportunity for skill development and team bonding. Students took part in intensive training sessions, played friendly matches, and even tried their hand at padel, one of Europe’s fastest-growing sports.
Across every trip, Stamford students represented the School with pride, curiosity and enthusiasm. These experiences not only deepen academic understanding, but also develop independence, cultural awareness and lifelong friendships.
At Stamford School, school trips and educational visits are an integral part of the curriculum. Whether exploring the natural world, studying global politics or competing on the international stage, students are encouraged to learn through experience and to see the world as their classroom.
