Sixth Form receive virtual Higher Education and Careers talks
Year 12 students at the Stamford Schools have engaged in a virtual higher education and careers evening, learning from industry experts.Students received talks from careers consultant, David Hawkins before hearing from the Director of Admissions at Bath University, Mike Nicholson. The event was recorded in advance, emailed to families and shown to students in their tutor sessions, where further questions could be asked and explored. Parents were also offered the opportunity to ask questions to the experts, ahead of their talks.Topics discussed by the experts ranged from the differences in admissions processes during COVID to degree apprenticeships and the impact Brexit will have on overseas study.Mrs D Beckingham, Head of Higher Education at Stamford said: "It has never been more crucial, in the current circumstances we find ourselves in, to provide insight and advice from experts to help our students make post 18 decisions."These talks, which are backed up with a comprehensive programme at both schools, will help our students with the next stages of university and course research, or with looking to alternatives to university and gap years."To read about the university destinations of recent leavers, please click
