Stamford’s Pre A-level programme is based predominantly around an English Language course and will prepare students for future study at a British Sixth Form. We hope this programme is the first step towards a three-year educational journey at Stamford School. Upon successful completion of the Pre A-level course, students can seamlessly transition into our Sixth Form and pursue a range of A-level and BTEC options.
Our supportive community fosters a welcoming and inclusive environment where academic excellence, pastoral care and continuous self-development teach our Stamfordians skills and confidence to face their future as well-rounded young adults.
The Pre A-level programme is designed specifically for international students preparing to study British A-level subjects post-GCSE qualification. The Pre A-level programme is based heavily on an English language course to enhance and build abilities in the language. This will support and strengthen international students’ opportunities when applying for a British Sixth Form place and University place post A-level completion.
Our study programme at Stamford offers comprehensive English language lessons delivered by our experienced teaching staff in an additional language (EAL). In addition to the language-based course, students can study four or five GCSE subjects: Maths, Business Studies, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Art. We believe these courses offer students a rounded, balanced choice from our most popular Sixth Form subjects at A-level. Within a British education, Maths, English and the Sciences are regarded as core subjects, with Business Studies and Art both academic and creative options.
Our small class sizes, around 10 students per class, allow for individualised attention and support. Students will benefit from an immersive learning experience, studying in dedicated EAL classrooms in the morning and utilising the standard subject classrooms in the afternoon.
