The Sixth Form Academic Information evening is
an opportunity to understand more information from subject leaders on potential
courses for Sixth Form.
At Stamford we seek to give students the opportunity to develop their knowledge across two-dimensional and three-dimensional processes and techniques, and by the time they reach A Level, if they wish, we give them significant independence to devise and formulate their own work and research. We are proud of our pupil's work which is often exhibited in the Stamford Arts Centre.
The department is always active, with after-school clubs, Saturday studio sessions and lunchtime clinics available for students to develop their skills.
The Art Department is made up of six specialist teachers whose backgrounds include Architecture, Illustration, Fine Art and Sculpture and our incredible technician who helps to realise the technical ambition of our students. The Art Department leads trips regularly to London, Yorkshire and Cambridge, and abroad, most recently to Paris.
Our facilities consist of the Richard Harris Centre for Years 7 to 11, comprising six large studio spaces for painting, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, photography, graphic design and textiles, alongside the St. Martin’s Sixth Form site, which contains three large and open studios offering the same breadth of facilities.
Our Scholars programme delivers a structured foundation in observational drawing, as well as developing creativity through the opportunity to explore media and techniques beyond the schemes of work. All departmental staff support and develop the scholars across a range of techniques including graphics (skateboard design), print (etching, collagraph and screen printing) and both two- and three-dimensional media.
