Will welcomed back to Stamford to discuss Merchant Navy

Old Stamfordian, Will Spiegl, has been welcomed back to visit Stamford School, to talk to the students about the opportunities that joining the Merchant Navy can offer, following the completion of their A Levels.Will discussed his own experiences of joining the Merchant Navy, just a few months after the completion of his studies at Stamford in 2017, as well as highlighting the breadth of opportunities offered through pursuing a career at sea.  He is now training to become an  Officer of the Watch Deck (Unlimited) at the Fleetwood Nautical Campus, whilst studying for a degree in Nautical Science. Will aims to become a Captain, requiring him to spend a minimum of four additional years at sea after his current studies.Discussing his visit to the Schools, Will said: ”It has been really nice to come back to Stamford, and very reminiscent. Everyone was so welcoming and pleased to see me return, and the boys were really engaged in what I had to say.
