Victory for Anderson House in Virtual Bake-off
Students from across Stamford High School have taken part in a festive virtual Bake-off, with Anderson House securing victory for the third year in a row. This year's competition operated slightly differently to the usual 'in-person' annual competition, with each student baking six 'Christmas Show Stopper' Cupcakes and submitting photographs and a description of their cakes to the judges, rather than baking them in school. The standard this year was incredibly high, but it was Milly W in Year 10, representing Anderson, with her spiced caramel cupcakes with mascapone icing, that were awarded first place. The competition was not limited to students, with staff members from each house entering cakes too. Congratulations to Miss Jeffs from the English department, representing Beale House, for her range of fantastic Christmas cupcakes.
The Head of Sixth Form, Mrs Hawkins, who runs the competition said, "Despite being virtual, it has still been an exciting competition which the students have certainly embraced with plenty of enthusiasm."Not only spectacular looking decorations but such an array of flavor combinations; from red velvet to double chocolate and salted caramel masterpieces, spiced ginger and rosemary, multicolored marbled sponges and even some containing hidden buckeye cookies."Thank you to everyone for your support of the 2020 SHS House Bake Off which we hope has brought a touch of festive sweet delight to the end of term!!"
Second Place: Bianca Bordiga's cupcakes representing Cavell, Year 13
Joint Third Place:Emily Tyler representing Beale, Year 7 (above)Riley O’Sullivan representing Eliot, Year 10 (below).
