Upcoming 'Spede Spelling Challenge'
On the 24th of January the 'Spede Spelling Challenge' will go underway at Stamford Junior School.The 'Spede Spelling Challenge' is a new take on a spelling bee but instead of focusing around memorising word spellings, the challenge will be based around the morphology of words.The morphology of words is the study of how words are formed within a language. the competition requires students to learn the structure and roots of words to discover spelling strategies other than just memory. This not only helps for reading and language fluency in English but instills a thought process that can be applied to any language.All students at SJS will take part.
