The Lord Byron Society

The Lord Byron Society is a group of staff and students who wish to investigate, discuss, and engage with the artistic heritage of our world. We believe that beauty can be understood and augmented by our exploration, and that all the arts are linked in a common language that can be heard. We seek to deliberately undo our preconceptions and challenge our beliefs that they may either transform or ossify.Lord Byron is our namesake for two reasons: firstly, as a preeminent Grand Tourist (the dream of the staff is to one day establish a Grand Tour school trip). Secondly, as a man who fought and died for what we treasure: our culture heritage, whether within or without our borders. The society hosts Y11-13's and meets in B11 on Tuesdays at 4:15pm, they also host a Christmas ball amongst other things. This year the society is learning about  many topics including:The Story of Prehistoric BritainThe Crusades analysedA History of wineAn Examination of Modern Music as PoetryThe Forging of England as a ‘nation-state’The Golden Age of Spanish LiteratureThe Mythology of the ‘Wildhunt’To join the society contact Mr Gent (ODGent@ses.lincs.sch.uk) or come along to a Tuesday meeting.
