Fives Coach, Mr A Smith, reports on the RFA (Rugby Fives Association) National Competition, where U16 and U14 boys' both saw success:"The U16 and U14 boys’ fives squads had a great three days at St Paul’s School at the RFA National Schools."U16:
Chase B and
Cam D reached the
U16 Doubles Semi Final, but lost out to Alleyns School’s first pair in a really hard game, 11-5, 11-6. They played really well, and they were the only Year 10 pair to reach the Semi-Finals."U14:
Connor and
Charlie S won the
U14 Doubles Plate, beating St Paul’s School in a very close Plate Final, 15-13."Other schools participating were, from England; Alleyns, Bedford School, Blundells, Christ’s Hospital, Derby Moor, Durham, Marlborough College, Rugby School, St Paul’s School, Tonbridge, and Winchester College, and from Scotland; Edinburgh Academy, Fettes, Loretto and Merchiston Castle."The students all played very competitively and, as usual, made many friends and drew much admiration from everyone – parents, pupils, coaches and organisers – for their enthusiasm, sportsmanship and conduct on and off the court. I was very proud to be there representing Stamford with such a great group of pupils."
