Students Tour Scotland

Rather than relax and take a break, nearly 100 Stamfordians hit the high road to the north in the name of sport. Rugby and hockey teams from Year 6 and Year 8 boarded the 09:00 train to Edinburgh buzzing with excitement at the prospect of sport and sightseeing!

The girls enjoyed competitive matches with Old Watsonians and George Watson’s College whilst the boys took on George Watson’s College and Dunfermline Rugby Club with all the pupils being cheered on by enthusiastic throngs of support from travelling SES parents!

Off the pitch, the pupils enjoyed the sites and sounds of the capital, a tour of the historic Edinburgh Castle, went into another galaxy in LazerTag, endured the terror of the Edinburgh Dungeon and sliced their way around Scotland’s premier crazy golf facility. The highlight was the “Who can make the most noise ?” competition at the European Cup match at Murrayfield between Edinburgh and Toulon. (Won by the Y8 Girls!)

Head of Sport at Stamford School David Laventure was quick to sing their praises: “The whole group toured well together and gave a great account of themselves. Touring is very important to us as a school and an integral part of a full all round education. The sooner we give them that experience to whet their appetite the better!!”
