Students through to next round of Foreign Language Translation Bee
Twelve students from Year 9 at Stamford School have progressed into the second round of the Foreign Language Translation Bee. Their success allows them to compete in the year group round at Easter, where three or four pupils will progress into the regional finals, held in June. Winning students will then be able to attend the National finals, held at Cambridge University in July.Sixty students from Year 9 entered the competition, where they were required to translate as many sentences as they could from English to Spanish, or French, in one minute. In recent years, pupils from the Endowed Schools have progressed as far as both regional and National finals. Two years ago, Reuben S, Year 9, who at the time competed in the Year 7 iteration of the competition, became the National Spelling Bee Champion in Spanish.
