Students refine fieldwork skills in Snowdonia

Thirty eight Sixth Form students from the Stamford Endowed Schools have been practicing their Geography fieldwork skills in Snowdonia, as part of their A Level studies.Students explored a multitude of forms of urban fieldwork; from the investigation of mood mapping, environmental surveys and rephotography, to their day studying glaciation, where they looked at glacial landscape recognition and the identification of erosion and deposition landscape features.Determined to not let 'Storm Ciara' dampen their spirits, localised flooding gave students the opportunity to learn more about flood management and water control.  Described as one of the highlights of the trip, the group observed the 'Nant Ffrancon Valley', where flood waters had risen significantly.Mr Andrew Ramsey, Head of Geography at Stamford School, said: "The students were incredibly well engaged and presented throughout the trip. It was a fantastic experience for all, and great preparation for their NEA investigation - which forms a part of their Geography A Level."Geography Fieldwork trip to SnowdoniaGeography Fieldwork trip to SnowdoniaGeography Fieldwork trip to SnowdoniaGeography Fieldwork trip to SnowdoniaGeography Fieldwork trip to SnowdoniaGeography Fieldwork trip to SnowdoniaGeography Fieldwork trip to Snowdonia
