    Students reach final of inter-school maths quiz

    Year 8 students from Stamford High School have reached the final of the Advanced Maths support programme (AMSP) inter-school quiz.Stamford took the top three positions out of the nine competing teams in their heat. In total, 12 students, split into four teams, represented Stamford in the first of four heats. The top two Stamford teams have gone through to the final, which is expected to take place in late May.Over 150 schools are participating in the competition, whereby questions are streamed to the groups, who work in teams to solve the problems and submit their answers online using the application ‘Kahoot’.Dr A Patchett, Head of Science at SHS, said: “The competition is a really good, straightforward idea to get schools to collaborate, at a distance, and it was a great opportunity for the students to show off their problem-solving prowess!”For more news from the Maths Department at Stamford, please click here.why stamford banner
