Student reaches finals of UKMT competition

Year 11 student, Marianna Tuleja, has reached the final round of the United Kingdom Mathematics Trust (UKMT) Intermediate Mathematical Competition.Based on her qualifying score, Marianna was the only student from her peers to be selected for the final 'Pink Kangaroo' round of the competition. The competition consisted of 25 multiple-choice math's questions in ascending order of difficulty. The students had 60 minutes to complete as many questions as possible in this time.Marianna reflected on the competition: “All you really need is basic math's skills, but the difficult part was thinking outside the box to find a quick way to solve a problem, as opposed to using a more time-consuming approach”.“I am very happy to have gotten this far, and I look forward to participating in more maths related competitions in the future!”Congratulations Marianna, and to all students who took part in the qualifying rounds. For more mathematics news from the Stamford Schools, please click here.why stamford banner
