Stamford's Unbeaten Rugby Teams
Stamford U16A and U15B teams have remained unbeaten for the School 2021 rugby season.This season for the U16A's was a roaring success going ten for ten across the course of the year.The team's Captain, Luke, summed up the teams thoughts: "From the determination and commitment of players to the carefully crafted plays and set pieces of the coach, the good communication skills of the team and the relationship between Forwards and Backs made us an unstoppable force. But also we were prepared to work very hard for each other. This is why we have been so successful."Luke identified some key matches for him and the team, such as the close win against rugby school, and the dominant win against local rivals Oakham, where Luke himself scored four tries.
The U15Bs clubbed together to achieve some impressive wins this season. Some of the highlights included shutting out Oakham at home and securing a 25-0 victory with a very dominant display, and coming from behind away to Birkhamstead to secure a hard-fought victory.Every player was valued and committed to the squad week-in, week-out, with many of the players also representing the A squad throughout the season. Some of the stand out players this season were Captain, Branden B, Ted P and Reuben I.Team coach, MR Cowell said: "The guys have shown great camaraderie, resilience and togetherness during this rugby term. They have persevered and shown a willingness to learn and support each other on, and off, the field.
