This summer, a group of our Sixth Form students embarked on an unforgettable four-week expedition to Ecuador, exploring the vibrant heart of South America.
Their adventure took them to cities like Quito and Otavalo and included exhilarating experiences such as climbing two volcanoes, trekking through the Amazon jungle, and white-water rafting down the mighty River Napo.
Along the way, they worked at a wildlife sanctuary, hiked through and up stunning waterfalls, and learned first-hand about the vital work of animal rehabilitation and conservation efforts in the Amazon.
What made this trip even more remarkable was that the students independently raised the funds to make it happen. They were also tasked with managing every aspect of the expedition, from budgeting and booking transport and accommodation to organising meals and planning activities—all without the use of mobile phones!
Their teamwork, leadership, and resourcefulness shone through as they navigated the challenges and ensured the group’s well-being throughout the trip.
The students returned not only with incredible memories but also with a wealth of life skills, including leadership, decision-making, and practical problem-solving.
