Stamford Junior School recently launched its Stamford Little Lectures programme, an initiative designed to enrich pupils' educational experience by inviting Old Stamfordians to share their expertise. The programme aims to inspire young learners by connecting them with professionals who bring subjects to life, enhancing both assemblies and humanities lessons.
We were thrilled to welcome Jackson Van Uden (OS 18), a distinguished historian, for the first lecture. Jackson captivated our Year 3 pupils with insights into his career and the historical events of World War II, perfectly complementing their current humanities unit on the topic. His engaging storytelling and deep knowledge not only enhanced the children’s understanding of the war but also inspired their curiosity about history.
The Stamford Little Lectures programme will continue to feature alumni from diverse fields, enriching the curriculum and offering students unique perspectives. By connecting learning with real-world experiences, we aim to foster a culture of curiosity and lifelong learning among our pupils, encouraging them to explore subjects beyond the classroom.
