Stamford Endowed Schools Celebrates Students’ A Level and BTEC Success

Students from the Schools are once again celebrated their A Level and BTEC achievements, as examination results were announced nationally on Thursday 17 August.

Overall, 181 Year 13 students sat A Levels or an equivalent this summer in 31 subjects, with 79.3% achieving grades of A*- C. 27.6% of students achieved at least three A*/A grades or equivalent. As an overall pass rate, 99.3% of students passed which, excluding COVID years, is the highest pass rate since 2016. 72% of Stamford students who applied to UCAS achieved their firm choice university.

Principal Mr Will Phelan, comments: “I am, as always, extremely proud of everything our Stamfordians have achieved and am excited for their future. All our students deserve congratulations for their hard work throughout their years in Sixth Form, but even more for their outstanding attitude and contribution to life at Stamford. A Levels are the key to the next stage of their lives, success will come from the adults they have become. I know our students are well set to take their next steps in life, whether at university, apprenticeships, exciting gap years, or starting out in their careers. We wish all of our Stamfordians the very best.”

In a joint statement, Mrs Vicky Buckman, Head of Stamford High School, and Mr Nick Davies, Interim Head of Stamford School, comments: “We are very pleased with today’s results, which show an uplift from 2019. The 2023 cohort of students studied remotely for their GCSEs and some of their A Level courses, as well as spending key social and academic development time at home; to perform in line with their peers from cohorts before the Covid pandemic is very encouraging. Our pastoral team had a number of measures in place to support students through this tricky time, especially as these students weren’t able to sit their GCSE examinations in person in 2021. These students have worked in exceptional circumstances and their hard work and tenacity should be applauded, whatever their results. We will support all of our students in whatever way they need advice, guidance and options following the results today.”

Stamford is proud to create rounded and grounded students whose academic achievements are always celebrated; our 2023 students will be reading a variety of different subjects as they head off to university including;

  • Computer Science and AI, Cyber Security, Games Art
  • Theatre and Performance, Song Writing and production and Marketing and Communication for Fashion
