SS Students Compete in ‘Top of the Bench’ competition
Four Stamford School students have recently taken part in the Royal Society of Chemistry’s Top of the Bench competition for the East Midlands region.Ellis B (Year 9), Charles S (Year 9), Edward W (Year 10) and Luca H (Year 11) had to analyse a sample of baking powder to determine the percentage by mass of sodium hydrogen carbonate. This involved running a series of experiments and plotting an accurate calibration graph, and tested their experimental, analytical and teamwork skills. Their results will determine if they go through to the national finals in February. They are also competing against a team entered by SHS - to read their story, please click
