Sixth Form Careers and Higher Education Talks
Sixth form students and their parents and guardians, from across the Stamford Endowed Schools, have received higher education and careers advice from professionals in their respective fields as part of their ongoing HE and Careers programme. These talks prelude the launch of ‘Unifrog’ for our Year 12 students; a platform helping students browse University, apprenticeship and scholarship courses in the UK and overseas. The talks were given by Mr David Hawkins and Mr Mike Nicolson, and aimed to provide context and ideas to explore when students are thinking about their post-18 steps.David, a graduate of the University of Oxford, has extensive experience in the fields of UK and overseas university applications. His website, ‘TheUniversityGuy’ –
which can be accessed here – was recommended to students for its plethora of resources, blogs and podcasts.Mike has previously worked as the Director of Undergraduate Admissions at the University of Oxford, and now works as the Director of Student Recruitment and Admissions at the University of Bath. Having visited the Schools many times, his insightful and honest approach to discussing trends and patterns in University admissions with our students was clearly valued. Thanks go to both speakers for sharing their time, knowledge and resources with our students and parents.Click for more information on the
